Impact Of Your Gift
Impact of Your Gift
Each year the Golden Knights Club (GKC) provides private financial support for athletic scholarships and capital improvements for UCF Athletics. Your annual contribution to the GKC has an immediate impact on the lives of UCF student-athletes. We invite you to follow a day in the life of our student-athletes in our student-athlete spotlight.
A Day in the Life of Lianne Maldonado, Women’s Soccer Student-Athlete
7:30 AM – My alarm on my cell phone rings for two minutes before I hit the snooze button twice.
7:40 AM – I grab a banana, cereal and water, and pack them in my book bag to eat on the way to class.
8:15 AM – After getting dressed, I grab my headphones and a novel. My mood usually decides whether I read or listen to my Ipod.
8:30 AM – I live about 5 minutes from campus, but because I do not have a car, I take the shuttle to and from campus.
9:00 AM – My favorite class, Attitudes and Communications, starts and I try to absorb everything I can. I love this class!
10:20 AM – Class ends and I head over to the Academic Services for Student-Athletes (ASSA) office to get in an hour of study hall.
11:30 AM – I walk towards the Student Union and grab a smoothie from Smoothie King and a sub from Subway. Lunch might be the best meal of the day, there are so many options!
12:15 PM – After lunch, I relax in the locker room and watch TV to unwind before training.
12:30 PM – I receive treatment from my Athletic Trainer for my wrist and elbow injuries, and to get my wrists taped.
1:30 PM – Goal Keeper practice begins. We take pride in our positions, so we put in at least an extra hour of practice each.
3:00 PM – Our strength coach puts us through a dynamic warm-up before practice begins. We strive to be better each day!
4:30 PM – We watch film after practice to learn and get better day by day.
6:00 PM – After taking an ice bath, it’s time for our bi-monthly Student-Athlete Advisory Counsel (SAAC) meeting. As Vice President, I have to help organize and set-up the meeting room. Luckily, we receive dinner.
8:00 PM – My teammates and I drive home together from SAAC and have some girl time.
9:00 PM – I grab a snack and complete some reading for class tomorrow. I usually check my e-mails, Facebook and Twitter around that time.
9:40 PM – Time to catch some shut-eye! After a busy day, my body definitely needs rest.
